He's in good form. He just can't play every game for 90mins anymore.

He has to contribute defensively for an entire game. Which he can't. instead he's basically invisible on defense and can just be passed around easily by opposition because he can't press, leaving the team exposed.

@@hadhamalnam last time I checked, the man’s job is to be a midfielder and not a defender. His job is to pass to the forwards. Imagine expecting the Goalie to score goals. The logic is the same, as in expecting Modric to defend the net at all times. Sure, he can do it, but his responsibilities are to pass to the forwards.

@@femiodukoya1879 I mean, he can but i wouldn’t expect him to do it. At the World Cup, he was almost playing 90+ minute games each game with Croatia. He can, it’s just people expect him to be some sort of Cyborg that can do everything. His job is just to literally pass the hall forward, and to create connections. I’d start him, and eventually sub him off, maybe around the 65th minute. He could play all game, but why tire him out, when you can rest him and give the youngsters a chance. That being said, I don’t get how it’s such a hard choice to give the man a new contract. He can easily play until his mid 40’s. I don’t think he can start every game once he reaches his 40’s, but I still do think he can play as a important sub. He’s old, but even at his age, he’s still outdoing guys, whom are young enough to be his child.

@Mapache 👑 Your the type of person to praise modric when he does some crazy pass, but then when Madrid spend the whole games being overrun, struggling to recover the ball and being pinned back in their half against a team like Bayern or City you blame the defenders. When in reality the issue there is clearly the midfield. A midfield that is dynamic, always running whether it is to create space and passing options on offense or to press and recover the ball on defense is absolutely necessary to compete against modern elite teams.
