We prioritize players (young and old) with high iq, high technical ability over physical qualities like other clubs may do, and we demonstrate that those types of players, no matter how young, will be able to flourish at this club if they take their opportunities. That incentivizes those talented young players (and their parents) to take their chances at La Masia over other high profile academies just because they have the chance to immediately slot in to a competitive team and stay for their entire careers, whereas other teams like Ajax would just be a stepping stone to enter a more competitive club. You take in all the good young Spanish players because the only other rival in Real Madrid doesn't care about their academy as much, scout for young South Americans who have seen the likes of Ronaldinho and Messi play at the club, and you're bound to eventually get a superstar in talent. Then you implement that superstar talent into a system that best suits them and you start nurturing these players left, right, and center.
